Initial Oral Examination
Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic X rays for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing X rays series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth. We use digital X rays which reduce the amount of radiation exposure by 75% as compared to normal X rays.
Preventative Dentistry
Make sure you and your family's teeth are in excellent condition by arranging checkups twice a year. Such checkups provide routine or deep cleanings to eliminate plaque buildup and prevent tooth decay. If necessary, they also provide fluoride treatments to help coat the teeth, a procedure also important in the prevention of tooth decay. Preventative dental checkups can help with the detection of oral health problems long before the onset of symptoms.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canals are tiny passageways that branch off from beneath the top of the tooth, coursing their way vertically downward, until they reach the tip of the root. A root canal therapy is a dental procedure that is used to remove diseased pulp tissue from the interior of a tooth. The passageways beneath the pulp chamber in the inner part of the tooth are hollowed out and cleaned, and the roots are filled eliminating infection and preventing tooth loss. Once the procedure is complete, Dr. Sonya Thomas-Webb will crown the tooth to restore its natural appearance.
